How to Check Your Results

1
Through Your School

Most schools share results directly on results day. Contact your exams officer a few days before to confirm the process and timing.

2
Online Portal

Your school may provide login credentials for myresults.cie.org.uk to check results online from 06:00 BST.

3
Private Candidates

Access results via Cambridge International Direct using credentials provided by your examination centre.

What You'll See in Your Results

Your Statement of Results will include the following for each subject:

Overall Grade

Your final grade for the subject:

IGCSE: A* A B C D E F G
A Level: A* A B C D E

"U" means Ungraded (below minimum threshold).

Percentage Uniform Mark (PUM)

A score from 0–100 that shows where you sit within your grade band. Accounts for differences in paper difficulty across sessions.

Appears on the Statement of Results only — not on the Certificate.

Component Grades

Individual grades for each paper you sat (e.g., Paper 1, Paper 2, Paper 4). These show performance per component separately.

The overall grade uses a weighted formula — not a simple average of component grades.

Statement vs Certificate

The Statement of Results (results day) shows grades, PUM, and component grades. The official Certificate arrives 6–8 weeks later with only the overall grade.

Understanding Grade Boundaries

Grade boundaries are the minimum raw marks needed for each grade. They vary each session based on paper difficulty and overall candidate performance.

When are they published?

Grade thresholds are published on each results day — 11 August for A Level, 19 August for IGCSE.

Where to find them

Past grade thresholds are on each subject's past papers page (e.g., Physics 0625, A Level Physics 9702).

After Results Day

Enquiries About Results (EAR)

Request a remark through your school if you believe your paper was marked incorrectly:

  • - Service 1: Clerical re-check (admin errors)
  • - Service 2: Full re-mark by a senior examiner
  • - Service 3: Return of scripts (see your actual papers)

EAR deadline for June 2026: approximately 20 September 2026. Grade can go up or down. Fee refunded if grade increases.

Retaking Exams

Options to improve your grade:

  • - Next opportunity: October/November 2026
  • - Retake entry deadline: 21 September 2026
  • - Exams start: 28 September 2026
  • - Retake individual papers or the full subject
  • - The higher grade is typically the one used
  • - A Level: can retake AS or A2 components separately

These are Cambridge's global deadlines — your school/centre will have earlier internal cut-offs. Always check with your centre directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are AS/A Level and IGCSE results on different days?

Cambridge releases AS & A Level results first (11 August) so universities can process UCAS confirmations before IGCSE results day (19 August). This matches the UK system where A Level results drive university admissions decisions.

What time are June 2026 results released?

Both results dates go live at 06:00 BST (05:00 UTC). AS & A Level on 11 August, IGCSE & O Level on 19 August. That's 09:00 in UAE, 10:30 in India, 13:00 in Singapore.

What is the Percentage Uniform Mark (PUM)?

PUM is a standardised score (0–100) that shows where you sit within your grade band. A PUM of 72 with a grade B means you were near the top of the B range. It accounts for paper difficulty and appears on the Statement of Results but not on the Certificate.

Can I get my paper re-marked?

Yes, through Enquiries About Results (EAR). Your school submits the request. Options: clerical re-check (Service 1), full re-mark (Service 2), or script return (Service 3). The EAR deadline for June 2026 is approximately 20 September 2026. Your grade can go up or down. Fee is refunded if the grade increases.

When can I retake if I'm unhappy with my grade?

The next session is October/November 2026. You can retake individual papers or the full subject. For A Level, you can retake AS or A2 components separately. The higher grade is typically used. Speak to your school early — entry deadlines close months before the session.

How do A Level results affect my UCAS university application?

If you applied through UCAS with conditional offers, your results are sent automatically to your chosen universities on A Level results day. If you meet your conditions, your place is confirmed. If not, you may enter UCAS Clearing to find alternative places. Contact your university directly if you're borderline — they sometimes still accept.

What does "U" (Ungraded) mean?

"U" means Ungraded — your marks did not reach the minimum threshold for grade G (IGCSE) or grade E (A Level). It does not appear on the Certificate. You can retake the subject in a future session.
