Edexcel is one of the largest exam boards in the UK, owned by Pearson. It awards two qualifications relevant to most students here: Edexcel International GCSE (IGCSE) - taught in over 100 countries and assessed entirely by written exams - and Edexcel GCSE, the UK domestic qualification. Both are graded 9-1 and recognised by UK and international universities on the same footing as any other GCSE.

The quickest way to tell which one you sit is the specification code on your syllabus and papers: codes starting with 4 (4BI1, 4CH1, 4MA1, 4PH1) are International GCSE; codes starting with 1 (1BI0, 1CH0, 1MA1, 1PH0) are UK GCSE. The two differ in paper structure and grade-boundary calibration, so always revise with papers that match your code.
